Junior Sailing School cancelled for 2020.

To ensure the health and safety of participants, employees, and Club members in the context of the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic, the Pointe-Claire Yacht Club has decided to cancel all Junior Sailing School programs for summer 2020. Full refunds will be granted to all who have paid their registration fee’s.

This is an extremely difficult decision because the Sailing School is very popular, highly attended and appreciated by parents, participants and instructors alike.

Thank you for your understanding

2020 Shark World Championships  Cancelled

It is with disappointment that we must announce the cancellation of the 2020 Shark Worlds which was originally scheduled for June 2020. Following the postponement announced in March we have been monitoring the progression of the Covid-19 situation and looking for solutions to numerous issues that it created in the context of running the regatta. It was important to the committee that we would be able to offer competitors an event that would support great racing and social activities. It’s these aspects which make a worlds event complete and memorable. It became clear many of the critical issues were impossible to manage and so this decision has been made. We hope all Shark sailors can get on the water soon and look forward to inviting you again to Montreal in the coming years.

‘Good Neighbour Series’

The Good Neighbour Series is a shared effort of Beaconsfield, Pointe Claire and the Royal St. Lawrence Yacht Clubs. Its purpose is the promotion of mid-week, evening races for all types of boats primarily using PHRF handicapping.

Races take place on Tuesdays at 6:45PM  and Thursdays at 6:40PM.

They are followed by the Sailors' Suppers at the club which is a (can't miss) part of the evening where competitors debrief over a delicious meal and an assortment of refreshments. This post race gathering on the patio and/or in the dining room is an opportunity to compare notes, discuss tactics and maneuvers (the ones that worked and those that went wrong!), make new friends and recruit new crew.

If you are a boat owner and participating for the first time, you must register at SLVYRA (St. Lawrence Valley Yacht Racing Association):   GNS Registration

Notice of Races, Registration, Sailing Instructions & Results for Tuesdays and Thursdays can be found here:  SLVYRA
