Looking for a new way to enjoy the outdoors? Sailing is a unique sport that people of all ages can enjoy. The Pointe-Claire Yacht Club Sailing School offers group and private lessons to help adults develop their sailing skills. Many of our past students either purchase their own boats, become crew members on other member boats to continue honing their skills, or even get involved in racing to take their sailing to the next level. All keelboat courses are taught on a Tanzer 22 or Shark 24 keelboat by Sail Canada certified instructors, and participants who demonstrate the required skills may earn Sail Canada certifications.
Ideal for individuals with limited on-water experience, this entry-level course focuses on building basic sailing skills, particularly in operating a keelboat as part of the crew. By the end of the course, participants will be able to confidently assist in the operation of a keelboat in moderate daytime conditions. This course is perfect for those with little boating experience or anyone wanting to try sailing on a keelboat while learning the fundamentals in a relaxed, comfortable setting. Participants are expected to work towards achieving their Sail Canada certifications.
The course lasts 12 hours.

RegistrationFor a more personalized learning experience, our private lessons are the perfect option! These lessons combine theory sessions with one-on-one on-water instruction from a professional instructor. After three lessons, you should be able to navigate a small course with minimal to no assistance. Each lesson lasts three hours and can be scheduled at a time that works best for you.

Wait ListIn co-operation with the Beaconsfield Yacht Club, PCYC hosts evening regattas every Tuesday and Thursday throughout the summer. Students having completed any course at PCYC are invited and encouraged to participate. No need to own a boat, simply join the club as a Social Non-Boat Owning member or purchase a Season Crew Pass and climb aboard another member’s boat! Our skippers are always looking for crews and are happy to share their passion for the sport with a newcomer.
