AQVA’s 17th annual Coupe du Québec took place July 29-30th at PCYC.  The 22 participants came from Ontario, Alberta, the US and of course Montreal.

Racing took place in the usual format, Gold fleet for more experienced racers and Silver fleet for those who are learning to race.

The weather was perfect, sunny and warm with shift northeast winds on Saturday and steady southwestern winds on Sunday.

The race committee, chaired by Pierre Carpentier, ran perfect races that were well suited to the conditions.

PCYC members offered their time in a number of volunteer roles:  spectator boats, protest committee, press boat, help on the docks and companion sailing in the Silver fleet.

As usual, AQVA sailors finished at the top of the fleets.  Pierre Richard took 1st place in Gold, followed by Sara Cooper of Calgary in

2nd and Brian Peckover of Nepean in 3rd.  The Silver fleet winner was Nate Besio from Vermont followed by AQVA’s Monique Trudel and Guy Bergeron in 2nd and 3rd.

PCYC continues to be the favourite location for adapted sailing events thanks to the friendly welcome from the members and staff,

our beautiful location and the great sailing conditions on Lac St-Louis.

A big thank you to all the PCYC members who contributed to the success of the regatta!
