Preparation for boat Launch with the Big Crane- May 10th

Dear Members,

The Club will launch as many boats as possible on May 10th with the big crane. As in past years, all boats must be ready for launch by this date. Club staff will make every effort to launch those boats not launched with the big crane as soon as possible thereafter, usually within the following week.

To allow a safe and effective Launch Day, boat owners are reminded they are responsible to do the following:

  1. Please ensure you have started your motor and safely drained and disposed of your antifreeze (in your new Eco center) PRIOR to launch.
  2. Ensure your cradle or trailer is clearly identified and in proper working condition. All tires must be properly inflated. (For trailers, please make sure the hitch is not locked)
  3. Prior to launch, permanent dock lines, chains and shackles (with lock wire) must be properly installed at your assigned dock space. This will enable boats to be safely secured once docked. We are doing our best to have the docks assessable by April 26th at the latest’s if we can give you access before we will send out a notice. An unusually high amount spring damage has prevented us from giving you safe access to the docks we are working as fast and safely as possible.
  4. Leave 25+ foot long bow and stern lines on deck of your boat in the yard.
  5. Install fenders (both sides), rudder and tiller.
  6. For boats with masts in place that require the backstay to be removed for launching, a temporary backstay that will not interfere with the lifting operation must be installed in advance.
  7. As soon as your boat is launched, remove any wood, tarps, ladders etc from your cradle/trailer. This will enable staff to quickly move and organize them.

You must be present for the launch of your boat, or delegate an appropriate person to move your boat from the launch dock to its designated location. Please notify the club of this beforehand.

Harbour & Storage Regulations

A complete list of regulations can be viewed on the club’s website (About section/conduct rules and bylaws and then harbour and storage regulations: https://www.pcyc.qc.ca/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/Harbour_Regs2021.pdf) . Please consult this for the start of the season, particularly with regard to the preparation of your boat, refueling, mooring, rigging, etc. Please take advantage of our ecocentre where you can easily drop off your used oil, oil filters, antifreeze and empty plastic containers. The ecocentre drop off location will be in front of the pedestrian gate. You can only leave LABELED containers or oil, antifreeze or used gas, these CANNOT be mixed together in one container.

Reminders

All accounts must be paid and proof of third-party liability insurance in the amount of not less than $1,000,000 must have been provided in advance to the Manager.

The Club reserves the right to reassign the berths of boats that have not launched within 20 days of the time of Launch. For any special circumstances, contact the Manager as soon as possible.

Volunteers

As always, member volunteers are a necessary part of an effective launch day and as such are highly welcomed. If you are available to assist, please advise the office and or sign up online with our link!

Everyone’s cooperation and efforts will be greatly appreciated and will help ensure a successful Launch and season start-up.
